Chistmas Shopping for Camping Gear
Posted On 2009-11-24 , 6:26 PM
One of the phrases you'll see over and over at Christmas time is, “Give the Gift that Keeps On Giving.” What gifts fit the bill? Camping Gear does. Most people where I live and north of me camp only when it is warmer. Wherever your gift will be given, camping gear will be something they use again and again.
For example, if you give someone an air mattress, they will use it during the holidays because lots of family is over, and they will use it in February for a slumber party. Then in April they will finally get their spouse to go camping with them because there is an air mattress available.
Buy a family a tent. Everyone in the family benefits. Even if not everyone goes camping. Many a mom enjoys the quiet when dad and kids go camping and leave her with peace and quiet, albiet temporary. |

Lanterns and flashlights are very good Christmas gifts. They become essential if the power goes out. Remember that both fuel and batter lanterns are good to have. People want battery-powered light when they are in their tent, but propane-powered light is less expensive when it can be used, such as outside.
If you can get the camping checklist of the person you are buying for, you might be able to find out what they need. If your extended family and friends are avid campers, you could start a tradition of sharing lists of camping gear you need for the next year.
Remember it's the thought behind the gift that matters more than the gift itself. Don't just buy a cheap camping something and pass it off as a gift. Put some thought into it. |
